GoLovefy ("GoLovefy," "we," "us," or "our") operates a mobile and web dating application (the "Service") that connects African and Black professionals worldwide. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the Service. By creating an account or using the Service, you consent to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: email address, password (hashed), and authentication tokens when you register or sign in with email, Google, or Apple.

Profile information: display name, age, gender, the gender(s) you are interested in, bio, photos, video introductions, city, country, approximate location (latitude/longitude when you enable it), interests, and optional social handles (TikTok, Snapchat).

Activity data: likes, matches, messages and chat content, Truth or Dare game entries, boosts, and interactions with other users.

Verification information: optional identity-document images you submit for ID verification, and profile photos submitted for review.

Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, crash logs, and analytics events (e.g. signups, likes) collected via our analytics provider.

Payment information: when you purchase a subscription, payment is processed by our payment providers (Stripe, Paystack, or Flutterwave). We do not store full card numbers; we may retain transaction identifiers and subscription status.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
• To display your profile to other users and show potential matches to you.
• To operate matching, chat, Truth or Dare, and profile-boost features.
• To verify identity and review photos for community safety.
• To process subscription payments and manage premium features.
• To send service notifications, matches, messages, reminders, and account emails.
• To investigate reports, enforce our Community Guidelines, and comply with legal obligations.
• To analyze and improve the Service, and to communicate updates.

3. Legal Basis (EEA/UK)

Where GDPR applies, we process your data on the basis of: performance of a contract (providing the Service), your consent (e.g. location, marketing), compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it in the following limited ways:

• With other users: the profile information you choose to publish is visible to other users in accordance with your settings.
• Service providers: cloud hosting, analytics, email, and payment processors who act as processors under our instructions.
• Legal authorities: when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GoLovefy, our users, or others.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. Chat messages and activity logs are retained as needed to operate features and for safety investigations. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time by contacting us; we will delete or anonymize your information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent or object to processing. You can exercise most of these rights within the app (e.g. editing your profile or deleting your account) or by emailing admin@golovefy.com.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us and we will delete the account.

8. Safety and Moderation

Profiles and photos may be reviewed by our team or automated tools. We use photo and ID verification to help keep the community authentic. Reported accounts are investigated and may be removed. You are responsible for your interactions with other users; please review our safety tips and never share financial information with matches.

9. Location Data

When you enable location, we use your approximate coordinates to calculate distance to potential matches and to surface nearby profiles. Location is used only as described and is not shared publicly beyond your chosen city/country. You can disable location at any time in your device settings or within the app.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and secure payment handling) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure protection equivalent to your home jurisdiction.

12. Cookies and Tracking

The app uses minimal local storage (e.g. to remember your language and tutorial progress) and analytics SDKs that collect anonymized or pseudonymous usage data. You can manage tracking through your device privacy settings.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email and update the "Last updated" date above.
